About Me

Hello! I'm Alex, a tech enthusiast with a drive for innovation and learning. This page offers a little more insight into who I am beyond the code.

I am a Northeastern MS native attending University of North Alabama and will graduate in May 2026.

When I’m not working on personal tech projects or helping friends troubleshoot their gear, I enjoy working out, gaming, and expanding my knowledge in cybersecurity and ethical hacking.

“Tech is ever-evolving—and so am I.”

Since Childhood

My passion for technology began at an early age. I was the curious kid who wanted to know how everything worked.

My journey started with an old family desktop and a copy of Windows 7. Since then, my love for technology has grown into a passion I now pursue through education and hands-on experience.

A family friend even brought an old family desktop they no longer used and 6 year old me dragged it into my room and learned how to use Windows operating system

You could say I grown really connected to technology as I was nonverbal until I was around 4. To communicate I used a computer and a keyboard to my family.

At just 8 years old, I was already cracking open desktop towers, tinkering with hardware, and reinstalling operating systems just to see what would happen. That early curiosity grew into the skills and focus I carry with me today as an IT professional.

My Time at UNA

I am currently a senior at the University of North Alabama, with an expected graduation date of May 2026.

During my time at UNA, I have developed skills in Python programming, web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, MySQL database management, and cybersecurity.

I transferred to UNA from Northeast Mississippi Community College in August 2023, where I began building my foundation in IT.

Throughout my time here, I have met incredible people and professors who have challenged me and helped shape the direction of my career.

My Homelab Journey

Alex's homelab setup

One of the biggest ways I’ve developed my skills is through building and maintaining my own homelab.

What started as a single machine turned into a full environment where I run servers, virtual machines, and containers to simulate real-world systems.

I’ve worked with technologies like UNRAID, Ubuntu Server, Docker, networking with VLANs, and remote access using VPN solutions. I also run services like network monitoring, backup systems, and security tools.

This hands-on experience has taught me far more than just theory. It has helped me understand how systems actually behave, how to troubleshoot issues, and how to design reliable infrastructure.

This is where I learn, break things, and figure out how to fix them.

  • Self-hosted services and cloud alternatives
  • Docker containers and virtual machines
  • Network segmentation using VLANs
  • Backup and disaster recovery setups
